i'm clare and i've always enjoyed making fun little websites, but they never get very far. I always get bored and move on to something else, so i'm hoping this sticks! i've loved 2000s web design ever since i was a kid watching my babysitter decorate her myspace page. i was too young to have my own, so i'd go to glittergraphics.com and print out my favorites to put on my wall. that obsession never went away i guess, because here i am 20 years later, decorating my neocities with glitter graphics. as you can see, the layout of this about page is a reflection of that lol

web history
my first experience with the internet was, like pretty much every other 2000s kid, playing webkinz and club penguin. along with these two i played pretty much every virtual world and flash game you can think of, and i also loved going to fan clubs and fan made sites for my favorite celebrities. the name for this site was inspired by mileyworld, miley cyrus' fan club, which i used religiously as a kid. i still have my membership card!
as i got older i was a member of a few different kids social media sites. mainly kidsbop.com, where i made webshows and contests, and disney create, where i drew power puff girls and "anime" portraits (i didn't actually know what anime was until i signed up for an anime drawing class and was confused about why we were drawing pokemon lol). unfortunately i never kept up with my digital drawing hobby so that's why i don't have any cool art on this site, but i wish i did!
later on from 2011-2013 i was really involved with the club penguin community online. i was a member of a few forums, had a blog, a youtube channel, and a twitter, where i made online friends that i still have today. i discovered that i love graphic design and hate blogging (all i ever wanted to do was make graphics for my website!) i still play club penguin journey sometimes, the club penguin obsession never left.
in high school my club penguin twitter turned into a fan account. mostly for austin mahone (lol, remember him?) and ariana grande, who i still love today. it was also sort of a fanpage for 5SOS, shawn mendes, bella thorne and zendaya, miley cyrus, basically every 2010s teen celeb you can think of. besides one direction and taylor swift, because i decided i was not like other girls (i love them now don't worry). i still continue my fangirl behavior now. i love to go to concerts and collect signed cds.
fast forward to now, i mostly just use neocities! i also do too much doomscrolling on social media, but i mostly only have personal accounts nowadays to follow irl people and don't like to merge the two.
